Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna The Arenal Volcano is located in the west side of La Fortuna de San Carlos, in the Alajuela Province. It includes the Arenal Volcano and the Chato Volcano. The Arenal Volcano is 1.633 meters high, with an almost perfectly conical shape. It has a crater on the summit of 140 meters deep. Arenal Volcano National Park provides a beautiful view of the active volcano and its current eruptions. Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is located in the Puntarena Province close to the touristic town of Santa Elena in Monteverde. Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula Corcovado is a National Park located in the Osa Peninsula, south west of Costa Rica. Within the park is the drainage of Corcovado Basin, a broad sediment-filled oceanic embayment between Punta Llorona and Punta Río Claro (near Sirena), which extends inland from the Pacific Ocean 10 km eastward. Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica's most popular National Parks. It is located in Limon province, on the northeast Atlantic coast of Costa Rica, about 80 kilometers north of the Caribbean city of Limon. The park was established on 1975. The park has an area of 77.032 acres (19.000 hectares of coastal park and 52,000 hectares of marine area), and it’s the protection land of some species of sea turtles; the nesting time is from July to October. Strong Caribbean currents have provided a long, straight 22 miles expanse of beach which is a favored nesting ground for sea turtles, such as the Hawksbill, Loggerheads, Baula, Carey, Cahuama and Pacific Green turtles. The Leatherback, the largest sea turtle species in the world, nests from February to July. Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, the largest volcano in northwest Costa Rica, is a remote volcanic complex in the Guanacaste Range. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located on the Cordillera de Guanacaste, a province of Guanacaste and Alajuela, 27 km northeast of the city of Liberia. Thermal mud pools, waterfall swimming areas and freshwater lakes are also available for visitor use. The offical road to the National Park winds 27 km east out of Liberia. The way is covered by this white dust and chalky earth. The most interesting are of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is Las Pailas (Kitchen Stoves), which includes 8 hectares of hot springs, boiling mud pots, sulfur lakes and vapor geysers which stain the rocks with red, green and yellow colors; overall it offers a bizarre geological phenomenon unique in Costa Rica.
