The highest mountain in Costa Rica


Cerro Chirripo is the highest point in Costa Rica with an altitud of 3.820 mts or 12.530 pies. It is protected by a National Park with the same name: Chirripo National Park. Hikers climb the Cerro and stay in a rustic lodge on the top. There is a maximun of people allowed in the park. A very trained hiker makes it to the top in 4 hours, but most visitors take 8 to 12 hours to the top.

On a clear day, it is possible to see the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. The minimun temperature registered at the top is -5 °C. There are a couple of lagoon on top and a beutifula mistical forest.
