    Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, the largest volcano in northwest Costa Rica, is a remote volcanic complex in the Guanacaste Range. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located on the Cordillera de Guanacaste, a province of Guanacaste and Alajuela, 27 km northeast of the city of Liberia. Thermal mud pools, waterfall swimming areas and freshwater lakes are also available for visitor use.

    The official road to the National Park winds 27 km east out of Liberia. The way is covered by this white dust and chalky earth. The most interesting are of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is Las Pailas (Kitchen Stoves), which includes 8 hectares of hot springs, boiling mud pots, sulfur lakes and vapor geysers which stain the rocks with red, green and yellow colors; overall it offers a bizarre geological phenomenon unique in Costa Rica.

    Among the highlights of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park include: hot springs, dry forest, volcanic scenery, and many different species of flora.

This is not only a tour, it is also a fieldwork/outdoor class. Get to know Costa Rica from a different perspective through the lens of your camera and record your trip in an unique way. One of our instructors/guide will accompany you through the most important parts of your trip, so that you can learn by doing in a perfect setting.

    Wildlife Photography Tour

    Day 1 - Arrive to Costa Rica, transfer to San Jose, overnight at San Jose

    Upon arrival time, a represetative of Banana Adventure Tours will pick you up at the International Airport. The you will be transfer to a hotel in San Jose.

     

     

    What to bring:

    • Confortable shoes and clothes

    Day 2 - Transfer to San Gerardo de Dota, visit to Savegre Waterfall (BLD)

    Early this morning youwill be picked up and transfered to San Gerardo de Dota. It is a small town located around 1 hour and 40 minutes from San Jose at Cerro de la Muerte. It is a great place for bird watchers since visitors have a great chance to see and photographs Quetzals.

    In the area, you can hike the auto guided trail to the two waterfalls. San Gerardo de Dota is a quite place where you can relax and enjoy nature.

    Day 3 - Bird watching tour, transfer to Dominical Beach, overnight at Dominical (BL)

    The best chance to see Quetzals is around 5 am, so to get the most our of your trip you might want to wake up early and take the best bird photo. In the afternoon, just after lunch, get prepared to transfer to Dominical Beach.It is located around 2 hours and 15 minutes from San Gerardo de Dota.

    Day 4 - Beach time at Dominical, free time, overnight at Dominical (B)

    Time to relax at the beach, surf and walk along the shore.

    Day 5 - Transfer to Manuel Antonio National Park, overnight at Manuel Antonio (B)

    Get ready! You will change the beach with a beutiful green emerald one at Manuel Antonio National Park. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful National parks in Costa Rica, where you an see wildlife and enjoy the beach.

    The park is very small, and wildlife is easy to see. Get your camera ready and began taking wonderful photos.

    Day 6 - Manuel Antonio beach, free time, overnight at Manuel Antonio (B)

    Time to relax at the beach and walk along the shore.

    Day 7 - Rincon de la Vieja and Hacienda Guachipelin, overnight at Hacienda Guachipelin (BDL)

    Hacienda Guachipelin is a beautiful hacienda up in the skirts of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. It offers a variety of adventure tours and hikes to the national park to see boiling mud and some other volcanic activity.

    Day 8 - Simbiosis Tour and Volcano Tour, overnight at Guachipelin (BLD)

    Simbiosis is a natural hot springs point close to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park.

    Day 9 - Travel back to San Jose, overnight at San Jose (B)

    After a healthy lunch, you will be transfer to San Jose, to have some time to buy souvenirs and rest your last night.

    Day 10 - Leaving Costa Rica (B)

    Depending on your flight information we will set your pick up time to be transferred to the International Airport. The international flight company policies states that travelers should be at the airport at least three hours in advance to make sure that everything is correct and that you will have time to go through security points.
