    A small paradise close to Cerro de la Muerte


    San Gerardo de Dota belongs to Los Santos area. It is located just 9 kilometers off the main road od Cerro de la Muerte. Going into a very steep curvy and grave road to the end of the the small town, visitors can find the most beautiful untouch paradise.

    San Gerardo de Dota is a great spot to see Quetzales, so it makes it a great spot for birdwatchers. There is no much to do as in night life, but it is located in the middle of the cloud forest with the most marvelous forest. The area is also known because of its river and waterfalls. Rio Savegre is known to be the cleanest river in Central America, with two beautiful waterfalls. There is a third hidden waterfall that is not know by many people, since it is to difficult to access.

    The town is full of great hotels, but only one Pulperia or convinience store. Each hotel has its own restaurant, so visitors by the night and also the full meal package.

    Birdwatching Spot


    Sarapiqui is just 1 hour and 30 minutes from San Jose. Its town is close to Sarapiqui river and port, which offers a great wildlife sightseing in Costa Rica. Aroundthe town, there are many scientific centers, such as La Selva Biological Station (OET) and La Tirimbina Biological Reserve.

    It is quickly becoming a great place for nature lovers and birdwatchers. There is even asite where certified by National Geographic whereyou can photographs dozens of birds, including toucans, Blue-gray Tanagers and Broad-billed Mot Mots.
