One day mountain bike tours
Cartago-Tapanti. Easy level. Minimum 2 people.
This original one day biking tour is designed to experience the many
beautiful sights that Costa Rica Central Valley has to offer it visitors.
The long down hill, and rolling hills are together a fun and slightly
challenging bike route for its participants. The visit to the Tapanti
National Park is a must for those of you who wish to experience the Costa
Rican Pura Vida .
Irazu-Turrialba-Guayabo. Intermediate level.
Minimum 2 people.
The Irazu Volcano, Costa Rica's highest at 3482 meters (10500 feet) will
be our biking start point. Our destination is Turrialba Volcano. After a
short stretch of paved road we will enter the days first challenge. Long,
fast and farley technical this down hill will take us through farmland and
stretches of cloud-forest. Once restored our energies we will take of
again, bound for the Guayabo National Monument, one of Costa Rica's few
archeological sites. This part of the route is tough. 9 miles of hard and
technical down hill, breathtaking views, short but steep up-hills loose
stones and gravel, shallow rivers to ford are some of today's the
ingredients. We end our biking at the entrance to the Guayabo National
Monument.
Division-El Brujo. Advance level. Minimum 4
people.
(These are comments from our friend Troy who rode this trail). The
beginning of the ride drops you under beautiful canopy and through thick
vegetation. The terrain is rocky, loose & mossy. After this fast technical
section, you drop out into an incredible river valley. The road (gravel)
winds along the river and is extremely fast in spots. The climb coming up
is quite steep. This is also where the road becomes rough again. The views
are well worth the climbing. If it rains on you here it's a mixed
blessing. The cool down is very welcome, the mud is not. The final descent
is again quite fast. White knuckles will be the norm here. The end of the
ride is near a small bar. Riding from 10,500ft to sea level, that's a full
days ride! No single track on this ride but it does not lack fun sections
and challenges. This is an Epic ride. If you're an upper intermediate or
above rider don't miss it if you're in Costa Rica.

is worth it for the fantastic view. We return to our bikes to ride the
remaining ten kilometers of our route, mostly all down hill. Our support

our rafting adventure. Sarapiqui river is one of the safest in Costa Rica
